We enjoyed another fine session of desert hiking and exploration this April. Our trip was comprised of a week in Capitol Reef, a day and night at Natural Bridges and a four day back pack followed by someday hiking in the Cedar Mesa/Grand Gulch/Bears Ears area.

This Fall we enjoyed an exceptional 11 day backpacking trip through Canyonlands National Park. We had originally reserved our Park Service Backcountry Permits with a start date of October 11. A large storm bringing the seasons first big snowfall was forecast for that day so we moved our permit forward 2 days.

We left Telluride on the third week of April. Our first stop was Canyonlands National Park – Needles District. Friends had secured the Woodenshoe group camping site and there was room for us.
